Significant developments to the Falklands Islands hospital are being designed by One Creative Environments Ltd. (One).
One, the multi-disciplinary building design company with a Midlands HQ in Worcester and a London office, has been commissioned for phase One of the extension and modernisation plans for the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) in Stanley, the Islands’ only hospital.
This vital project will provide two new state-of-the art operating theatres, that will enable more complex procedures to take place on the island, as well as X-Ray and CT scanning facilities. The development will also make more efficient use of space for new offices, workshop and stores. One is the Principal Designer and is providing all of the necessary building design services: Architecture, Structural and Civil engineering, Building Services and Landscape Architecture working in a Building Information Modelling (BIM) environment – the future of intelligent design.
Colin Summers, Director of Public Works for Falklands Island Government, commented: “We look forward to working with One on the extension and modernisation programme for the hospital as we are already seeing positive results from their creative team on the design of our extra care facility for vulnerable people.”
“The improvements being made to the hospital are extensive and will benefit future generations with state-of-the-art operating facilities, X-Ray and CT scanning facilities as well as making the best use of storage and administrative space.”
Matt Tebbatt, Managing Director of One Creative Environments Ltd., commented: “We are delighted to win this latest contract with the Falklands Island Government. The modular design solution will best meet the future needs of the hospital and keep the facility fully operational as the works take place. These improvements will make a real difference to local people and it is a pleasure to be involved.”
“We are already working on two other exciting projects on the islands and are pleased to say that being thousands of miles away, will never compromise on our approach or our results.”
