This summer's clashes between The British and Irish Lions and the All Blacks promise to be truly world class tussles - so it’s only fitting that one of Worcestershire's own will be involved.
Ben Te'o's inclusion in Warren Gatland's 41-man Lions squad is the icing on the cake in a stellar season for the Worcester Warriors centre, which saw his England debut last November, followed by a role in the national team's RBS 6 Nations triumph.
The call-up means that Te'o has become the first player in Warriors history to make the prestigious squad, an honour the 30-year old had not been banking upon.
Proudly donning the Lions jersey at Sixways, he told warriors.co.uk: "It's a bit of a surprise and it wasn't till a couple of days ago that people were sending me links to articles and I was just trying not to get excited about it.
"I found out at midday like everyone else. I was just in a team meeting going over our last game against Bath and at the end they switched over to the live stream of the announcement and I found out there alongside my teammates.
"It was a nice moment. They gave me a good celebration and then it was straight out onto the park to train."
As proud sponsors of Worcester Warriors, all of us at World Class Worcestershire are delighted about Ben's well-deserved call-up, and we look forward to seeing our county represented on one of Rugby's grandest stages this summer.
Come on you Lions!
