If a gold medal isn’t enough for Clare Cashmore and Lauren Rowles then surely a Back Pear Tree is? But Clare and Lauren didn't stop there, topping the lot with an MBE from The Queen!
The golden girls, who each topped the podium at the Rio Paralympics in 2016, Clare for the 4 × 100 metre medley relay in swimming and rower Lauren in the trunk-arms mixed double sculls, collected their honours at a Buckingham Palace reception earlier this year.
It's not too hard to see why they received the coveted title, as both have committed themselves to long hours of training, lots of hard work and bucket loads of persistence. These are all qualities that can help to inspire any youngster looking to pursue career in sport and, indeed, any adults looking for motivation to get that beach body for the Summer!
Clare said: "It's a huge honour to have been recognised for the work I have done in and out of the pool. It was a very surreal day as I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would be collecting an MBE from the palace. It was lovely to be able to share this special day with my mum and sisters who have played a huge role in my career."
Well done to both Clare and Lauren for their honours – both very well deserved!
